Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What does the word "neuro" mean?  How are you different to a physio practice who might treat my sore neck, back or shoulder?
A: Our practice is specifically set up to see clients who have a neurological disability.  "Neuro" means that we deal with problems affecting the nervous system (the brain or spinal cord).  Some neurological problems or conditions are present from birth (congenital), some are hereditary (genetic) and others have a sudden onset due to injury or illness, such as a head injury or stroke.
We also have expertise in managing exercise prescription for those who have specific requirements due to their disability - eg. gross motor skills development for children on the autism spectrum.
We focus on interventions which improve physical functioning such as exercise, equipment prescription, activity modification and access to appropriate recreational opportunities.

Q: Are you able to see clients through the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), TAC, Worksafe and Aged Care Packages?
A: Yes, clients who have Plan-Managed and Self-Managed NDIS packages, those who use TAC or Worksafe funding and clients who have Aged Care Packages are able to utilise their funding to access our services.

Q: Can I claim my appointment fee through private health insurance?
A: Yes, our physiotherapists and exercise physiologists are registered with Medicare so you will be able to claim some of the appointment fee through Private Health Extras.  You will need to pay for your appointment on the day and we will then provide you with a receipt which you can send to your private health fund.

Q: Can I use a
n EPC or GP Care Plan to access your services?
A: Yes, if your GP has given you a Care Plan with visits allocated to Physiotherapy or Exercise Physiology, you can utilise this towards the cost of your appointment.  It will not cover the full cost of our services, and you will be required to pay for your appointment on the day.  We can then process the Medicare rebate which will be returned into your bank account.

Q: Do you provide home visits?
A: Yes, we provide home visits to most regions in South West Victoria, including Warrnambool, Portland, Terang and Camperdown.  There is a travel fee associated with home visits which will be outlined before your first visit.

Q: Do you have wheelchair access?
A: Yes!  Our new therapy space has been built with access at the forefront of our minds.  It features an on-site carpark with 2 disabled parking spots, level entry with automatic door and disabled and ambulant toilets.

Q: What do I need to bring to my appointment?
A: When we first meet you, we will need to ask about your medical history and other details including what medications you are on.  If you have any medical reports which you think may be of assistance, please bring them with you.

Q: How can I refer myself or a client to The Neuro Collective?
A: Our referral form is now available on our website!  Click here to access the page.  Alternatively we can send you a link via email, or assist you to fill out the form over the phone.
If you have any queries about whether our service is right for your needs, please contact us via phone to discuss prior to filling out the referral form.

Q: Do you have a waiting list?
A: From time-to-time we may have a waiting list, depending on which services you require.  If this is the case, we will inform you when we respond to your referral about how long the wait for an initial assessment will be.
